LEE JAMES - CREATIVE DIRECTOR

MEET THE FOUNDERS - LEE JAMES

Hi everyone I'd love to introduce myself to the community we're forming around Reflekt.

I'm Lee, I was raised in England my whole life and spent most of my childhood drawing, in bands as a singer and guitarist and had an obsession with modifying cars once I got to 17+.

I spent most of my youth pursuing art, fashion and music and at 24 I left the UK behind and emigrated over to Hong Kong where I've had an extensive career in music, fashion and finally I fell into product design around 15 years ago.

I launched my first company at around 27 in smartphone tech, designing chargers, speakers, cables and general USB-Tech which grew rapidly in the emergening smartphone world back then.

Me with some of my other company's products Quantum Industries

I've gone on from Tech with my companies Load, Retouch to Music Gear with Quantum Industries with myself and Jackel's old bands we saw there were gaps in the music industry for a premium focussed touring gear brand. This brand has been growing well over the years and due to Jackel's car obsessions I've finally fell into one of my true passions, which is owning and restoring the cars of my teenage years!

During my time in Hong Kong eventually I got back into my bad habits of car ownership (something very frowned upon by the typical HongKonger due to the incredible costs of maintenance, tax and ownership) however for me, life without my car in Hong Kong is no life at all so I've managed to foolishly not only splurge every month to enjoy the privilege of driving, I've also change cars every couple of years up until recently since I got my dream car!

In the last few years I finally decided it was time to get my teenage dream car and be sensible and grab an RX7 FD3S

For me the past few years of owning a classic JDM has taught me a lot. If you take care, love and run the car sensibly, an RX7 can be a fantastic daily driver, with far less breakdowns and issues than many of the new cars on the road today (including EVs)

My FD3S Being rebuilt to stock standard engine systems

I got the car in 2022, rebuilt the engine with our Hong Kong master of Rotary Tung, I began to try and restore all the damaged or worn parts for the car and quickly realised it can be hell to find some of these simple parts!

It got me thinking if only someone in the community had engineering, design, manufacturing, language and finally, customer service skills and sales experience, they could really build a company that could restore some amazing cars and help all the communities worldwide to keep them running perfectly. For me, as a stock purist, I always wanted to keep my car perfectly stock but my car has been very problematic to do so. I thought about this, and the idea remained with me in the background until meeting Silvia (Cheng Shu) with Jackel Pun and it just clicked.

We decided that between the three of us, all of us classic car enthusiasts, that we'd join forced to build Reflekt, our concept of what a classic car restoration company should be.

My role with Reflekt will be to focus on all the skills I've built over the last 2 decades.

Building a professional company making high value, high trust items, focussing on making sure our brand represents only the best in restoring your cars, with parts I design our-side and re-engineer with Silvia building the strong relationships with the factories we'll need to reproduce to perfection.

Me with My FD, excited to restore it with our own perfect parts we're planning to make for FD but also the entire range of FB, FC and variant RX7.

During the next couple of years we aim to rapidly expand the parts we're building to allow you guys the ability to choose missing parts effortlessly through Reflekt, knowing that these parts procured through us do their job just as perfectly as the originals, and the OEM parts that we not built perfect, with the communities support we will improve upon them and build OEM+ parts.

I am glad to build this company to serve the wider classic car community. Whether you own a JDM, EDM or a rare classic from the States, we hope to gain your trust in the future to be the brand of choice for the parts your car needs.

We hope to gain your trust in future, you knowing that the parts you're buying through Reflekt and from the three of us classic car fanatics that just so happen to be in the right place, at the right time, with the right combined skills to make this happen in a way most other resellers or part builders are not.

Thanks for joining us on this journey together and I hope to see a tonne more of the community loving the parts we're resurrecting back out to the market. No 3D printed replicas, no hand crafted imperfection. We go straight back into tooling in the same way as the OEM for you guys (and I'll admit for my FD3S too when those parts come) :)
